Jaw discomfort,
and your bite together
Systematic, tailored TMJ care that examines the balance of joint, muscle, and bite together.
TMJ treatment – DIAN Dental precision diagnosis and tailored care for TMJ disorders
Jaw discomfort must be examined
together with your bite and daily balance
The jaw joint, constantly moving as we talk and chew, is used thousands of times a day — one of the most actively bilateral joints in the body.
If you hear a click or grinding in front of the ear when opening or closing your mouth, or feel stiffness around the jaw and discomfort when chewing, you should suspect a TMJ disorder.
A TMJ disorder is not simply
a problem of the joint itself
It arises from complex causes — the bite of the teeth, chewing habits like grinding or clenching, and muscle tension from stress. DIAN closely analyzes the cause of everyday jaw pain and provides systematic, tailored care that considers the balance of joint, muscle, and tooth bite alike.
In these cases
- A click or catching sound comes from the jaw joint in front of the ear when opening or closing your mouth.
- When yawning or opening wide, the jaw jerks and opens in a zigzag.
- Your mouth suddenly won’t open well (limited opening), and it’s hard to fit three fingers vertically inside.
In these cases
- On waking, the muscles around your jaw feel stiff or hard to move.
- You feel pain in front of the ear or joint pain when chewing or swallowing.
- Unexplained migraines persist, or your neck and shoulder muscles often knot and ache.
- You clench hard without noticing, or grind your teeth while asleep.
DIAN’s scientific, tailored TMJ care
We apply physical therapy, appliance therapy, and guided therapy step by step, according to the cause of pain.
01. Tailored physical therapy to ease pain and tension (Physical Therapy)
Therapy that relaxes the muscles around the jaw joint and promotes recovery of damaged joint tissue. Combining infrared heat, low-frequency stimulation (TENS), and ultrasound, it reduces excessive pressure on the joint and quickly eases severe daily pain and discomfort.
02. Appliance therapy to protect the joint and restore balance (Oral Appliance Therapy)
For night grinding, clenching, or heavy joint wear from a bad bite, we make a custom TMJ stabilization appliance (splint). It slightly separates the joint, disperses the destructive force concentrated on joint and teeth, and guides the jaw muscles to a normal position to safely protect the joint’s inner tissue.
03. Guided therapy that reduces muscle force (Botox)
When the chewing muscles (masseter) are overdeveloped and put excessive force on the joint, we use verified genuine Botox. It temporarily reduces muscle volume and chewing force to immediately relieve pain and maximize the effect of appliance therapy.

Clinical exam and
3D CT digital precision diagnosis
The director personally measures your opening range and checks jaw sounds and pain locations. Then 3D CT and panoramic imaging analyze the wear and shape changes of the jaw-joint bone (condyle) in 3D.
- Clinical exam of opening range & pain location
- 3D CT & panoramic imaging
- Analysis of condyle wear & shape change
- 3D precision diagnosis
Cause analysis and
building a 1:1 tailored treatment plan
We combine the tooth bite, daily habits, and any joint-bone deformation to decide the safest, most necessary priority of care (physical therapy, medication, appliance therapy, etc.) for the patient.
- Analyzing the tooth bite
- Reviewing daily habits
- Checking for joint deformation
- A priority-based treatment plan
Focused care and
habit-correction guidance
We carry out the chosen physical and appliance therapy precisely, and provide close 1:1 guidance to correct harmful daily patterns that hinder results (eating hard foods, chewing on one side, resting the chin on a hand, etc.).
- Physical & appliance therapy
- Correcting bad habits
- Close 1:1 guidance
- Regular progress checks
The questions patients ask most about TMJ treatment (FAQ)
A. The jaw joint is organically linked to the tooth bite, the lower jawbone, and the facial muscles, so it’s most accurately diagnosed and treated at a dentist (oral medicine). Because a dentist understands the mechanics of both teeth and jaw joint, they can tell whether it’s a bite or a muscle problem and prescribe fundamental care such as a splint or physical therapy.
A. Yes — TMJ physical therapy and medication at a dentist are basically covered by national health insurance, so you can be treated without cost worries. For private indemnity insurance, coverage depends on your policy’s terms and details, so we recommend checking with your insurer in advance.
A. Absolutely not recommended — it can actually damage the jaw joint more. A dental stabilization splint is a custom medical device that precisely measures your subtle bite and adjusts it at the micron level. A standardized off-the-shelf mouthpiece can’t reflect your individual bite, so it may concentrate excessive force on certain teeth or even cause side effects that rapidly worsen tooth alignment and TMJ disorders.
Jaw-joint health is tied to your daily quality of life. When the jaw is uncomfortable, you don’t just lose the joy of eating — chronic headaches and facial pain can break down daily life. DIAN doesn’t focus on temporary care that only quiets visible pain. We accurately diagnose the root cause of TMJ disorders and care for it warmly, helping you regain a healthy daily life where you can smile and chew comfortably, without pain.
