Gum treatment – DIAN Dental stage-by-stage care for periodontal disease

Gum Care| General Care Center

If a tooth is a tree,
the gum is the soil that holds it.

Just as even a sturdy tree can’t stand once its soil washes away, no matter how healthy a tooth is, once the jawbone (alveolar bone) weakens the tooth is eventually lost. Swollen, bleeding gums are the gum’s SOS signal.

DIAN tracks even hidden inflammation deep in the gums, delivering the most fundamental yet powerful care to save your natural teeth.

CHECKLIST

If you have these symptoms, you need a gum checkup now

(* Left untreated, it can lead to loose teeth and extraction, so if two or more apply, please come in soon.)

Early
Your gums bleed when brushing or biting an apple.
Your gums itch or throb whenever you’re tired.
Advanced
Your gums have turned red or dark red instead of a healthy pink.
You have persistent bad breath and a stale or bitter taste.
Your gums have receded, exposing the roots so teeth look longer.
Gaps have opened between teeth and food gets stuck more often.
Teeth feel weak, sensitive, or loose when chewing hard foods.
TREATMENT PROCESS

DIAN’s stage-by-stage periodontal care process
Treatment for periodontal disease varies by stage. DIAN raises the success rate with scientific, step-by-step care.

STEP 01 Precise periodontal exam & cause analysis
Precise diagnosis & data

We measure each patient’s gum pocket depth and analyze the jawbone with digital X-rays to accurately diagnose the stage of inflammation (gingivitis / mild, moderate, severe periodontitis).

STEP 02 Scaling (tartar removal)
Removing tartar above the gum

We cleanly remove plaque and hard tartar above the gum with an ultrasonic scaler. Removing bacteria above the gum alone resolves most mild gum inflammation.

STEP 03 Root planing
Smoothing the root surface

Just below the gum line, we remove fine tartar and toxins stuck to the root surface and smooth it, preventing bacteria from reattaching.

STEP 04 Gum curettage
Curetting inflamed tissue inside the gum

When inflammation has progressed deep into the gum pocket, we use special instruments under local anesthesia to directly scrape out tartar and infected tissue deep at the root — a precise procedure.

STEP 05 Regular maintenance
A lifelong oral-care partner

Periodontal disease recurs easily, like a cold. After treatment, visiting every 3–6 months, we check your gums and give a tailored guide to brushing and interdental care, helping you stay healthy for life.

The most common questions about gum care (FAQ)

A. No — it’s proof the treatment worked well. The thick tartar covering the teeth is gone, and the gums that were puffy with inflammation have settled, revealing hidden space. The root surface, freed of its tartar ‘coat,’ is temporarily more sensitive to temperature, but this gradually recovers over time.

A. Yes. Treatment-purpose scaling (once a year), root planing, and gum curettage are all covered by national health insurance — not just cosmetic — so you can be treated comfortably without cost worries.

A. Supplements and medicines only play a supporting role — they can’t remove the cause. The root cause of gum disease is tartar (clumps of bacteria) stuck like stone to the tooth roots, which only dental instruments can remove. Taking medicine while leaving the cause makes it worse, so you must visit the clinic to remove the source.
